Vidal Perez, Alternating Proprietor - Assistant Winemaker, CCWS
Born and raised in Ensenada, Mexico, Vidal Perez grew up helping his dad grow ornamental artichokes and flowers on the family farm. He graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Agricultural Chemistry from the Universidad Autónoma de Queretaro in 1989. In 1990 he came to the US with the help of a family friend and graduated from Fresno State in 1993 with a Master’s Degree in Agricultural Chemistry with an emphasis in Viticulture and Enology. As a student he worked under Dr. Keith Striegler at the Viticulture and Enology Research Center where his passion for grapes and wine started.
From 1993 to 2006 he managed vineyards in the South, Central and North Coasts of California for a number of different wineries and growers. To advance his career he decided to get into the winemaking side of the industry during harvest of 2006 when he worked as the Assistant Winemaker/Viticulturist for a client of Paso Robles Wine Services. In December of 2006 he joined Central Coast Wine Services at Assistant Winemaker - AP Operations. He is a member of the American Society for Enology and Viticulture and a volunteer translator for the Flying Samaritans, a non-profit group of doctors and pilots that fly monthly to Baja, Mexico to provide free medical services to needy families. He lives with his 18 year old son Vidal Jr. in Santa Maria.
